We’re The Millers [2013] – Review

Drug dealer David (Jason Sudeikis) is asked by a wealthy client (Ed Helms) to pick up marijuana from Mexico, for which he’ll be paid $100,000. Realizing that one man attempting to get through customs all by himself is too suspicious, he hires a stripper (Jennifer Aniston) and recruits two local kids, a runaway tween girl (Emma Roberts) and a virgin teenage boy (Will Poulter) to portray a bogus family, the Millers, so as to not arouse suspicion while crossing the border. But the “family” runs into trouble when it is discovered that the marijuana David was supposed to return to the States was taken from a high-powered Mexican drug lord.

We’re the Millers is a foul mouth road trip film that will have you laughing and falling in love with this wonderful family. Jason Sudeikis leads this group of misfits smuggling a “smidge and a half” of marijuana back into the states from Mexico. Jennifer Aniston plays the bad mouth stripper wife who is the backbone of the family. Emma Roberts and Will Poulter round out the family as the two kids who are just as cynical as their parent counterparts. This mean-spirited comedy is filled with many laughs throughout the movie and not much story.  It’s always fun to hear potty words coming out from stars that normally you don’t normally expect. By the end of the movie, the Millers become a heartwarming anti-family that you can’t get enough of!

7 out of 10 Stars (Drug Dealer, Stripper, Runaway, Virgin, Family!!)

Highlights –

Jennifer Aniston –  This movie once again shows why Jennifer Aniston is fun and why everyone loves her, but it also shows  that she’s sexy as hell! At the ripe age of 44, Jennifer Aniston steals the show once again with a sizzling striptease dance midway through the movie that had me gasping for air.

It’s all in the kiss – One of the most awkward scenes is when Kevin (the teenage boy) is taught how to kiss a girl. Basically, things get very taboo and it continues on and on for a good minute (without spoiling).

The BBC – charades is always a comedic gag that brings in big laughs and a drawing of a skateboard brings in some good laughs.

The Last Scene – It’s one of the best. After the movie ends, the blooper reel starts and that last scene is really good. It has to do with the family hanging in the RV singing a tune together for some relief after passing the US border. This last scene will have you leaving the theater with a big smile on your face. (no spoilers!)

Problems –

Missing The Big One – The movie has many great laughs that will keep you smiling, but it did not have the one big scene that would have me crying out tears of joy.
